North Vancouver's waterfront is heading for a complete makeover. The Shipyards - Lot 5, will soon be a "great people orientated dynamic place", according to North Vancouver's mayor, Darrell Mussatto.
The plan is to equip Lot 5 with restaurants, shops, a boutique hotel, underground parking, an outdoor skating rink in the winter, and a water park in the summer. If all goes as planned, the area will be "the new gathering spot not just for the North Shore, but be one of the better ones for the Lower Mainland."
What do you think about the re-development of the North Vancouver waterfront?
Quay Management Corporation will fund the $35 million project, and will lease the land from the City of North Vancouver. The city will pay for the remediation of the site, which is to cost $5 million.
The project is expected to be complete by 2018. You can follow the progress here.
